About

A graduate of the University of Wales, Nigel Barratt has lectured in agriculture at colleges in Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Shropshire and Powys. For ten years from 1995 he ran his own travel company, Whistler Tours, leading happy bands around the gardens of Kent, the galleries of Glasgow and the Britten festival at Aldeburgh amongst a myriad of other adventures.  A life-long birder, he has travelled widely at home and abroad since taking the option of ‘no longer working full-time’ in 2013. He farms in partnership with his wife on their 45 acre holding near Shrewsbury breeding North Country Cheviot sheep, and draws from his own experience to write engaging and informed articles on a wide range of rural issues that provide a topical and incisive view.
